Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
Each year, the About.com team gathers together for their own Friends-giving, a potluck style dinner where we can all forget about work (just for a little!) and enjoy one anothers’ company. It’s a great time to meet new Abouters, socialize with the team, and eat delicious food! Plus, we get to vet out the office chef-extraordinaires (we have some amazing cooks!)
Check out this year’s incredible feast!
From all of us at About, we hope you and yours have a very happy Thanksgiving.

Welcome back to another Meet the Team! Today, we’ve got another exciting About.com team member to showcase - introducing Mr. Ian Baczyk.
Ian is an Account Executive on our sales team, working with About’s many advertising partners to package strategic marketing solutions best suited for their needs. Besides his keen business mind, Ian is known in the About.com office for his booming laugh, constant smile, and unbelievable team spirit – in fact, he’s been voted About.com’s “Most Fun Male” award for two years running! (And with the awesome group we’ve collected here at About, you’ve got to believe that is QUITE the accomplishment!)
Jersey born and bred, you can find Ian rooting on the home teams – the New York Yankees, the New Jersey Devils, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wait – what?!
Let’s let Ian take over the mic and tell us a bit about himself:
Ian, what’s your story? I hold a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Rhode Island - GO RAMS. I’m from New Jersey (yes, I see you rolling your eyes). I come from a small yet rock solid family and have a large group of friends that I’ve known since elementary school. I enjoy the finer things in life - fishing, laughter, cheese, and a solid bloody mary.
What’s your favorite part of working at About? Where do I start? In a nutshell, I love our product because of our ability to provide solutions for every aspect of people’s lives. And we’re awesome at doing it.
Dogs or Cats? Seriously? Dogs! Cats are spawns of Satan. Am I allowed to say that?
Favorite quote? “The big lesson in life, baby, is never be scared of anyone or anything.” –Frank Sinatra
Where do you see About in 5 years? About.com will still be helping people discover solutions every day, but we’ll be better at it. Technology is rapidly evolving and I think we, as a company, will be more integrated into our users’ lives because of it.
If you were a superhero, what power would you possess? I’d be able to go anywhere by snapping my fingers. How cool would that be? Philly Cheese steak FROM Philly for lunch? Boom, that just happened!
Anything else? Dive deeper next time you come visit! Here’s a roadmap: Head to our food channel and get a great recipe for this week. Next stop, the home channel. Get a long-term project to take on. After that, head over to the travel channel and pick out your next vacation, you deserve it.
As you can see, Ian is absolutely part of the glue here at About that makes us such a strong company. Keep up the good work! Maybe the third “most fun” award is in his near future…
We’ll have a new “Meet The Team” member featured over the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

Hey all! Welcome back to About About.
Today, we’re introducing Meredith Worsham - Senior Manager of Communications in the Public Relations department. Meredith oversees all communications for the company including consumer and trade press, obtains speaking opportunities for the About.com executives, and generally focuses on telling people how awesome About.com is (aw, shucks!).
Originally from the South, Meredith is the best of both worlds: old-school Southern charm with a New York City edge. In the office, she can be found scrolling through funny photos of her dog, Bailey, or reminding About-ers why Hall & Oates is (unofficially) the best band of all-time.
We asked Meredith to tell us a bit about herself:
Tell us your story: I’m from North Carolina but have lived in NYC for more than 7 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in History from Elon University. I started out at a big agency doing healthcare PR but tech PR is what I love so it’s good thing I work at About.com!
What’s your favorite part of working at About.com? Bagel Thursdays. I wake up on Thursdays and it’s the first thing I think about. (No, really I do.) But more seriously, probably all the changes going on here. To see all the excitement and energy that’s been put into place, just in the last few months, is a very refreshing thing. It feels like a whole new company.
Favorite phrase? “Never forget where you came from.” No matter how many years that I live in New York City, I will always remain a Southerner because it made me who I am today and I’m grateful for that. I may have lost my accent (well, mostly!), but I haven’t lost my roots. Also, I can’t get a good BBQ sandwich anywhere up here.
Cats or Dogs? Dogs all the way (I’m terrified of cats). I have a three year old Boxer/Hound mix named Bailey. A few years ago, we pitched a “Halloween costumes for dogs” story. A large New York outlet decided to cover it but needed to photograph dogs in actual costumes - so I volunteered her. I like to think she’s famous but I don’t think she’s ever forgiven me. She looked ridiculous.
Where do you see About in a year? Five years? I see great opportunity and growth for us. In PR, we have the ability to tell our story and if we do it right, people are going to think about About in a whole new way and that’s really cool. No matter if it’s year one or year five, as long as we continue to evolve is all that really matters. Change is good.
Thanks, Meredith! To meet more of our team, stay tuned for the next Meet The Team.
Until next time,
- The About.com Team
